My name is Andra Tammi Heath and I am a 1980 graduate of the University of Wisconsin at Whitewater with a degree in Physical Education. For the past 30 years I have taught Physical Education classes in schools for all age groups, and adult classes for both men and women. Class types include aerobics, weight training, folk arts, and Pilates. These are all very different and all have their strong points. I have also given lectures and seminars on fitness and look forward to coming to your area with this information.
Over the years I have had the pleasure of working with a variety of people who have come to me for as many reasons as there have been people. Part of this website reflects the culmination of expertise these years have given me. I have seen what has worked, and what has not. I retain the tried and true methods in my fitness tool kit, but have also found less conventional ideas shown to have as much success as well.
Always, my focus has been to promote fitness as a human right, not reserved for the wealthy who can afford expensive gymnasium memberships and the time to go there. I have believed in this human right so much so that over the years I have accepted much less money than many of my colleagues. Think about it; if I require a six-figure salary, that cost must be passed down to my participants. So I “put my money where my mouth is”, so to speak, doing some volunteer work where necessary, talking less money where appropriate and, yes, taking some “good money” positions on which to live.
This website is a result of one of these good opportunities. I recently had the fortune of accepting an unexpected opportunity which has allowed me to be a good steward and create this venue of information for medical practitioners, fitness gurus, and lay-people alike.
As with most worthwhile ventures, this one was not created single-handedly. The “Powers That Be” have allowed me to come in contact with the right people at the right time with the right technology. My abundant gratitude goes to those who have shared in my vision and helped to make this site possible.
This web site is a marriage between the research of western medicine and the abundant choices in exercise techniques to heal our ailments.
The symbol for medicine is a Caduceus, the winged staff with two intertwined snakes.
My female exerciser is wrapped in the shape of the Caduceus.
Just because I an using a female form in my logo does not mean I am speaking only to women in my writings. On the contrary, men and women alike can benefit from fitness not only as a form of preventive medicine, but also as medicine after an illness is already known. I use a female form in the logo because I find that women relate better to other female images, and most men would rather look at a female image than male.
“By appealing to more people, I am able to help more people. It’s all about the numbers. I am here for you!”
